Macau is a place with long history and its heritage and monuments represent the coexistence of eastern and western
cultures. In 2005, the Historic Centre of Macau, a collection of over twenty monuments and sites was inscribed on
the UNESCO World Heritage list, making it the 31st designated World Heritage site in China. The Historic Centre of
Macau includes monuments such as urban squares, streetscapes, churches and temples. They are the A-Ma Temple, Ruins
of St. Paul's the Holy House of Mercy, Senado Square and St
Dominic's Church etc.
Furthermore, various of Museums from Wine Museum to Grand Prix Museum, though Macau is a rather tiny place in the
world, yet it is a place with a rich past, culture and patrimony. It is this rich history that makes the specific
cultural heritage of Macau, which we can observe in the various Museums of the city as well as in its monuments.
Also, there are many churches and temples in Macau, and you will experience how Portuguese cultural has influenced
this small place with over 400 years colonial history.
Nevertheless, Macau is expanding rapidly from a small village to become the Las Vegas of the Far East and it is
claimed to be the “Monte Carlo of the East”. More and more luxurious hotels are now opened in Macau
which includes the Sands Macau, Wynn Macau, Venetian Macau and the MGM Grand Macau etc.
Here are some more spots which you may go around when you walk pass Macau and have sightseeing,
such as the Macau Tower, the Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre and Lotus
Square etc.
